Microsoft Build2019 is an annual conference event by Microsoft, aimed towards software engineers and web developers using Windows, Azure, and other Microsoft technologies. It was first held in 2011 and it got a great response and support from the devs all over the regions.

On May 6th, 2019 we organized an event called Microsoft Build 2019 – Coimbatore Live Streaming Party at Kovai Systems, Coimbatore. We had around 35+ participants for this event. Thanks, Microsoft for all the cool goodies and sponsoring us for the yummy dinner and making this event as a successful one. I’m sharing a few pictures from this event.

Microsoft conducts this event every year and in this blog, we are going to see the updates about the keynote given by Satya Nadella at #MSBuild2019.

Blasting keynote

Satya Nadella kickstarted #MSBuil2019 keynote by giving a warm welcome to all the young developers and student ambassadors who involved in this event and also he mentioned,

Build is all about imagining what’s possible

But more importantly Making it possible!

Every industry uses software and that’s the opportunity of the developers comes into the picture. The mission of Microsoft is very clear.

And also he mentioned about their collaboration with an open source project called Election Guard to ensure real transparency and verify ability in election systems and also it will be live in GitHub this month.

Microsoft gives us four distinct platform opportunities. There will be numerous updates about these technologies throughout the #MSBuild2019. He started with the updates about Microsoft Azure.

Microsoft Azure

Microsoft Azure – The World’s Computer

There are 54 Azure regions worldwide and >90 Compliance Certifications which is more than any other cloud platform. And also they started a new data center in Africa. And also he mentioned that edge is going to play a major role in Azure service developments. God! Cannot believe my eyes! There are 25 major updates and new features involved in Microsoft Azure.

95% of the world’s leading brands run on Azure. He also mentioned some top companies using azure like,

  • Walgreens Boots Alliance and Cooler Screens – The cooler screen uses the latest AI of Azure to change the retail experience starting from refrigeration units.
  • AB InBev – Largest bear manufacturer. The yield of barley is being tracked by Azure IoT and also they use Azure Cognitive Services to track Social media.
  • St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital & DNAnexus – They use Azure Genomics to solve the problems of Childhood Cancer.
  • AT&T and Vorpal – They are rolling out 5G and they chose Azure Stack for their computer at the edge and they are working with ISV’s which is a drone safety tracker.
  • Starbucks – They use a lot of Azure technologies like Azure AI, Azure IoT, Azure Sphere, and Azure Blockchain Service.

There was a quick demo by the Starbucks team, explaining about how effectively they use their Azure technologies in their organization. After the demo, Satya started about the updates on Azure AI and Azure Cognitive Services. Azure Cognitive Service has been evolved a lot since last year.

There was a cool demo on Azure Speech Service. It recognizes the person’s voice and it starts the transcribing the voice into text and also it’s very fast.

Microsoft Dynamic 365 & Power Platform

Dynamic 365 is completely re-written to be an Azure Cloud Native App. Numerous organizations use Dynamic 365 and Power platform. It mostly relies on all the Azure Services. Dynamic 365 and Microsoft Azure makes the best pair.

Open Data Initiative(ODI) in partnership with Adobe and SAP. Using this ODI you can have a shared data model and common data storage where you can have a common AI driven insight and data enrichment.

Microsoft 365

It is the world’s productivity cloud across work and life. There are four Microsoft 365 opportunities involved like.

  • Windows
  • Office
  • Edge
  • Teams

It makes you have connected experiences, integrated workflows and intelligent security. Satya also mentioned about Microsoft Graph where they have a strong database about the people with all the Microsoft apps involved. As Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 is also being used by the world’s largest brands all over the regions. Microsoft 365 has its own first-party apps like,

  • Microsoft Search – Universal Search Capabilities
  • MyAnalytics – It keeps track of your focus and guides you to use your time in a proper way.
  • Cortana – Conversational interface for Microsoft 365. Build with the help of Bot Framework.

Here is a cool video of Cortana making our life easier.

And then he started to share the updates about Microsoft Edge. It is going to rock on all platforms like Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, etc. A quick demo about the collaboration introduced in Microsoft 365 and also about Microsoft Edge was very inspiring.

There’s a new concept called Collections in Microsoft Edge. It helps you gather, organize and share content more efficiently. You can mail your collections to your friends directly from the edge. You can also export and import your collections.

Microsoft fluid framework

Microsoft fluid framework is a new set of technologies that developers can use to build experiences for any browser that breakdown barriers between people and barriers between apps. It allows people to work fundamentally in a new way. Collaboration editing made faster in all Microsoft 365 apps. And also in the below image, you can see that it also translates to the respective language selected.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is the biggest collaborative platform where you can Message, Schedule a Meeting, Collaborations with your colleagues and also have your insights about what’s going on in your organization. There is various new stuff included in teams but Show whiteboard is one of the coll advantages where the webcam finds the whiteboard in the room and it also detects people and makes them transparent so you can see the board clearly.

Holo lens + Microsoft Teams + AI = Boom . It was a great 3d meeting where you can see an avatar of your colleagues and also you can have a collaborative meeting. That’s Awesome!

Microsoft Gaming

Satya mentioned that gaming is really a special place in Microsoft. Any user can play their games on PC, Console or Mobile. There are a various platform which uses Microsoft Game Stack such as,
